Kids Dancing School Thornbury

Does your tween LOVE music and have an interest in dance but is not confident enough to join the ‘stereotypical’ dance class.  Then our 1.5 hour tweens class will make them feel a part of a community where they are surrounded by other like minded students.

Together as a class along with their encouraging teacher, they’ll foster their love of music and create a passion for performing arts and a confidence that will translate into all other areas of their lives.  Want to progress your dance techniques further?  Try adding our ballet class.

Tweens Class Structure

When you jump into class with our Grade 5 to Year 8 Tweens you will start with a cardio warm up, perhaps a fun circuit with a partner. Then we move onto stretching all of our muscles in the centre of the studio to ensure that our bodies are warm and ready for the dancing ahead. You may also work on some isolations of the body to help with our hip hop technique. Now that you are warm and stretched the tweens will move on to working on their Jazz technique. This can include working on turns and kicks in the centre and then going to the corner to practise travelling turns, kicks, leaps and jumps. From there we jump into learning our concert choreography. We aim to learn one dance per term in the styles of Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary and Lyrical. We love giving our dancers the opportunity to learn four styles of dance in the one class which gives them the ability to be on stage multiple times during our end of year performance.

At Awesome Dancer our classes are full of fun, laughter, love and positivity. Our teachers create a beautiful relaxed environment for our students to foster their love of dance.
